
As part of the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games, the UK’s four-year Cultural Olympiad kicked off last September and Lakes Alive in Cumbria is officially part of the celebrations.
The Lake District World Heritage Project is working closely with Lakes Alive, the Lake District National Park Authority and the BBC on an exciting project involving communities. As part of Made in England, a national programme led by the BBC and Arts Council England the project has involved more than 100 people from across Cumbria creating their own visual spectacle which was revealed at Mintfest this year. The BBC have followed the artists and participants exploring landscape and identity and what Lakes Alive and World Heritage means to the future image of Cumbria and its cultural life.
